Types of ship repair jobs we see in Sri Lanka
Every vessel and trade is different, but the repair patterns are similar. Most jobs fall into a few practical categories that can be handled during a normal port stay if they are planned correctly.
Common repair scenarios
- Hull and steel damage that needs cropping and renewal in a limited area
- Piping leaks or sections that have reached the end of their life
- Support brackets, ladders and handrails that need repair or replacement
- Machinery related repairs that require local machining or specialist tools
For a more detailed list of capabilities, see the ship repair service Sri Lanka page .
Planned repair during a scheduled call
Planned repairs are usually the safest and most cost efficient approach. You already know the defect, you have photos and you can decide how much time to allocate in port.
How to brief us for planned repair work
Share drawings or sketches of the affected area, clear photos, rough dimensions, Class or flag requirements if any, and your available time window in port. This allows us to prepare steel, piping or materials in advance instead of waiting for measurements onboard.
With this information we can propose a repair plan that fits your schedule and obtain Class or owner agreement before the team mobilises.
Handling urgent repair during an unscheduled stop
Not every repair is planned. Sometimes damage or failure appears close to Sri Lanka and you need a practical way to keep the vessel safe and moving.
- First step is always to stabilise the situation and keep crew and vessel safe
- Next is to collect photos, measurements and information for a repair proposal
- For Class related items, we help coordinate with surveyors or your technical team
- Temporary repairs can be used where full work is not possible in the time available
